Principal's Desk
Dear CHS
Parents, Student, and Community Friends,
It is again my pleasure to serve as
principal of Christiansburg High School.
We are beginning to embark upon
another exciting year of exploration, enrichment, and learning. The 2008-2009
year at CHS promises to be one of academic rigor and excellence.
We are eager to meet your students as
they walk through our doors. We are preparing for a year of unlimited
possibilities. Our teachers have prepared themselves to provide our students
with all of the necessary tools for our ever-changing world. Our goal is to
prepare all students to become critical thinkers and exceptional young adults.
Freshman parents, we know that you
have particular questions related to high school. We are available to assist you
as you transition with your child.
Parents, I encourage you to support
your child in all areas of his/her high school education. As you know,
attendance is vitally important for success. Please review the attendance
policy, which can be found on the MCPS website. We want your child at school
everyday.
At CHS, we offer top-notched academic
and vocational classes that truly prepare our students for college and/or the
workforce. Should you have questions or concerns or just want to see academics
at its finest, please feel free to stop by. As always, my door is open to you.
Thank you for trusting us with your child(ren).
Sincerely,
Rhonda
W. Poindexter

Mrs. Rhonda W. Poindexter began her career in education
with Roanoke City Public Schools. Having a desire to truly become a part of her
community for which she has lived for 21 years, Rhonda came to Montgomery County
Public Schools as an assistant principal at Blacksburg High School. In the same
year, Mrs. Poindexter served as supervisor of secondary education. Mrs.
Poindexter is now the principal at Christiansburg High School.
Before entering the field of education, Mrs. Poindexter
worked at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant in Radford. After a massive lay-off,
Rhonda took advantage of the retraining program offered to laid-off employees
and earned a Bachelors of Arts, a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction,
and an Ed.S in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies all from Va. Tech.
Mrs. Poindexter is happiest when being around students.
Seeing students achieve excellence is her driving force.
