  • VEA

Publications, Conferences, Workshops, Research:

  • Recently completed participation in a 3-year Teaching American History Grant. During this grant we gained additional knowledge about many different aspects of teaching American History, gained access to valuable primary resources, gained ideas of bringing history to the students in different ways, and took wonderful trips to learn more about history and to delve deeper into historical events and places.

Hobbies and Outside Interests:

  • I love to read. My favorite types of things to read are Nazi Germany/Holocaust, Russian History, Harry Potter, thriller fiction (John Grisham, James Patterson, David Baldacci).
Other things I love are: traveling, classic rock music, disco music, action/adventure movies(Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Pirates of the Caribbean). My favorite movie is Schindler’s List.
I am originally from Louisiana, and I love the Dallas Cowboys, New Orleans Saints, and the LSU Tigers. I love magnolia trees, Cajun food, Tabasco sauce, oysters, and crawfish.
I am very active in my church in Radford. I sing in the choir, help with the youth choir, play in the handbell choir, direct the youth handbell choir, and act as church historian.
I have had 7 carpal tunnel surgeries.
We have several pets at home, all of them incredibly spoiled: Clifford, our basset hound; Tatiana, our gray/white cat; Medusa, our ball python; Carolina, our son’s pet Huskie.
