PSAT Testing
PSAT for fall 2009
Montgomery
County Public Schools will again this year use the PSAT as the 10th
grade standardized test. All sophomores will be tested on Wednesday, October 14th
during first and second block at no cost to the parent or student.
College
bound juniors are encouraged to register to take the PSAT at the same time at a
cost of $15. “It is important that 11th grade students take the test
to enter the National Merit Scholarship Corporation competitions as well as to
prepare for the SAT.” (The Parent Perspective PSAT/NMSQT FAQ)
All students
who take the 2009 PSAT will receive complementary access to ScoreWrite, a
download from the College Board to help prepare for the SAT essay and a code to
access My College QuickStart from College Board to help find college majors and
careers that match your child’s interests. The score report from PSAT will have
a section titled Improve Your Skills to provide individual performance
suggestions prior to taking the SAT.
Mrs. Stafford
will be taking registration from juniors between September 14th and
23rd in the guidance office.
